Effect of MXene Loaded on g-C3N4 Photocatalyst for the Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue

Photocatalytic degradation is one of the environmentally friendly methods used in treating dye wastewater. In this study, a series MXene/g-C3N4 heterostructure photocatalysts with different loading amounts MXene (1, 4, 8, and 12 wt.%) were successfully synthesized via wet impregnation method their photocatalytic activity was evaluated methylene blue under visible-light irradiation. As such, 1 wt.% photocatalyst achieved high compared to pure g-C3N4 illumination 180 min. This significant improvement attributed intimate interfacial contact, evidently from FESEM analysis, which allows smooth photocharge carriers transport between MXene. Additionally, larger BET surface area demonstrated by allowed sample have higher adsorption molecules provided number reactive sites, beneficial for enhancement activity. Nevertheless, it found that excessive can substantially impede decrease active as well weakened crystallinity photocatalyst, evident FTIR XRD analysis. All all, study has shown potential promising highly efficient wastewater treatment applications.
